The new eIDAS 2 regulation comes into force<\/h1>\n

On May 20, Regulation (EU) 2024\/1183 of April 11, amending Regulation 910\/2014, better known as the eIDAS Regulation, which established a European framework for digital identity, comes into force.<\/span><\/h4>\n

What’s New in eIDAS 2<\/h2>\n

The new<\/span> eIDAS 2 Regulation<\/span><\/a> brings some significant changes compared to the previous regulation. The new regulation includes new trust services, most notably the<\/strong><\/span> digital wallet (EUDI-Wallet)<\/b> , which will enable the implementation of a single digital identity across the European Union.<\/span> <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This<\/span> new digital identity, or<\/b> eWallet<\/b><\/a> ,<\/b> must be accepted as a means of online identification by service providers in sectors as diverse as health, financial entities, and education, among others, allowing users to access public and private services securely.<\/span> <\/p>\n

Furthermore,<\/span> it will allow citizens greater control over their personal data<\/b> , the option to use pseudonyms when legal identity is not required , and the inclusion of attributes that have been previously validated<\/strong> . Users will be able to decide what information and attributes they share at any given time and with whom, exercising control over their personal data and its access by third parties. The Regulation also governs<\/strong> the use that these third parties may make of this data<\/strong> , in accordance with the GDPR.<\/span><\/p>\n

Qualified electronic declarations of attributes,<\/b> as<\/span> well as declarations issued by a responsible public sector body from an authentic source, shall have the same legal effect as declarations lawfully issued on paper, the latter being recognized as such by all Member States.<\/span><\/p>\n

eIDAS2 has set itself the goal of increasing the current adoption rate by citizens from 59% to 80% by 2030<\/b> , and that we all have a new European Digital Identity that allows us to carry out procedures and processes between companies and with the public administration with greater security and simplicity.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new Regulation opens up the possibility of other new trust services such as<\/span> electronic archiving<\/b> ,<\/span> electronic ledgers<\/b> and the<\/span> management of remote electronic signature and seal creation devices<\/b> , establishing the requirements that must be met and the legal validity that is recognized for them in the Member States of the Union.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
